The musical legend had humble beginnings in the UK, initially playing piano at a local pub and eventually joining a band called Bluesology (which, interestingly, is where he got his new name – from bandmates Elton Dean and Long John Baldry). Then, in 1988, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, dubbing him an official “Sir.”
Fast forward to today, and Sir Elton boasts more than 300 million record sales, a recent movie biopic tucked neatly in his rhinestone-studded belt, and he is currently on a three-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
