Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd each year to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote conservation efforts worldwide. This year, the theme for Earth Day is “Restore Our Earth,” emphasizing the importance of taking action to heal our planet.

Recently, the need for urgent action to address climate change and protect the natural world has been even more heightened. Over the last three years, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the environment, with reduced travel and industrial activity leading to a temporary reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. However, the long-term solution to the climate crisis requires sustained efforts to reduce emissions and transition to clean energy sources.Give Back to the Planet That Gives to Us

At ParkMobile, we are aimed at developing the technology ecosystem that enables drivers to minimize their carbon footprint as they navigate between destinations. We strive to be every user’s go-to parking solution, not only to improve the entire parking experience, but also to limit negative environmental impact. In fact, our vision is to “Make Cities More Livable” and our smart mobility solutions are helping our users change the way they look at parking.

Key Ways We Can Protect Mother Earth

One of the key ways we can restore our earth is by protecting biodiversity, the variety and variability of life on earth. The loss of biodiversity threatens the health of ecosystems and the well-being of all living creatures, including humans. We can protect biodiversity by supporting conservation efforts, reducing our use of resources, and promoting sustainable practices.

Another important aspect of restoring our earth is reducing our carbon footprint. This can be achieved by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and transitioning to clean energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower. We can also reduce our carbon footprint by using energy-efficient appliances and reducing our overall energy consumption.

Water conservation is another crucial element of restoring our earth. Water is a finite resource, and many regions worldwide face water scarcity. We can conserve water by fixing leaks, reducing our use of water-intensive products, and using water-saving devices.

Finally, waste reduction is an important component of restoring our earth. Landfills contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and can harm wildlife and human health. We can reduce waste by practicing the 3 R’s: reduce, reuse, and recycle. We can also support businesses that prioritize sustainable practices and reduce packaging waste.

Earth Day is an opportunity to reflect on the impact of our actions on the planet and to take steps to restore our earth. By protecting biodiversity, reducing our carbon footprint, conserving water, and reducing waste, we can work towards a more sustainable and resilient future. Let us all do our part to protect the planet and ensure a healthy environment for future generations.

This month, we recommend taking time to appreciate our planet and doing your part to protect it. Here are some ideas for ways you can make a difference not only this month, but also year-round:

  1. Reduce, reuse and recycle: Be more mindful of your environment and lookout for recycling and composting bins around you. These days, recycling bins can be found at restaurants, venues, college campuses, malls, public parks, and many more locations, so play a role in the protection of our planet by recycling instead of disposing in the trash.
  2. Plant a tree: There are organizations and charities across the country that offer volunteer tree-planting opportunities. In Atlanta, Trees Atlanta is a popular non-profit that protects and improves Atlanta’s greenery.
  3. Support environmentally-friendly businesses and products: Think twice and do your research before purchasing goods and services. From beauty products to fashion, there are now hundreds of products on the market that support sustainability.
  4. Use less energy: Turn off lights and unplug devices when not in use.

Remember, taking care of our planet doesn’t just happen in April–it’s a lifelong commitment. Now is the time to take responsibility for our planet.

ParkMobile Going Green

As a transportation company, we know that cars drive our business and we also understand the significant impact that our operations can have on the environment. We have established office-wide sustainability efforts to make the company a little more green, in addition to our iconic green logo, of course.

We’re committed to reducing our waste and promoting recycling in all aspects of our operations. We have limited the usage of single-use plastic in the office and encourage all employees to recycle eligible materials. Recycling bins can be found throughout the office.

ParkMobile Cares - Celebrating Earth Day 2023

Our goal is to reduce a driver’s carbon footprint at the individual level by tackling the amount of time spent idling while looking for parking. On average, Americans spend 17 hours a year searching for parking, which adds up to $345 per driver, a cost of $73 billion nationally. Searching for parking amounts to wasted time, fuel, and emissions per driver.

With ParkMobile, users can easily find, reserve, and pay for parking from their mobile devices to prevent their time spent idling and wasting gas. With our Parking Availability feature, users can view available parking in real-time, helping them efficiently navigate directly to the areas with open spots, thus reducing the amount of time circling the block. With our Reservations feature, users can easily reserve parking in advance to prevent wasted time idling in search of a spot. Reservations come in handy when visiting venues, airports, and universities where parking can often be a challenge.

Give Back with Us

We strive to invest in, take care of, and give back to our people and the different communities we serve. In support of Earth Day 2023, from now through the end of April, use the ParkMobile app to donate to The Conservation Fund, an environmental nonprofit that works to protect America’s legacy of land and water resources. Let’s build a more sustainable future together.

To donate, enter zone number 0422 into the app, select “The Conservation Fund”, choose a donation amount, and start your parking session for the total dollar amount to be donated. ParkMobile will be matching a portion of all donations. Thank you for donating!
