Find parking near Virginia Department of Transportation

The Virginia Department of Transportation office on East Broad Street is an important state government hub where transportation planning, highway maintenance, and safety programs are coordinated for communities across Virginia. Located on the edge of Richmond’s Capitol area, it attracts a steady flow of employees, contractors, and visitors throughout the workweek, which keeps nearby streets active and can make curbside spaces fill quickly. Booking parking near Virginia Department of Transportation in advance helps visitors avoid circling busy downtown blocks and makes it easier to arrive on time for meetings, permit inquiries, or other official business.

The building sits in a dense government district where many nearby facilities share the same streets and compete for limited metered and time-restricted on-street parking. Drivers should be prepared for typical downtown conditions, including peak-hour congestion, clear loading zones, and areas reserved for state vehicles or security, which can further reduce public parking options. Planning ahead by securing a convenient, well-marked parking spot reduces stress, supports a smoother visit, and minimizes the risk of tickets from strict local enforcement. Because traffic patterns and parking regulations can change, visitors should always review the latest guidance from official Richmond and state sources before they travel.
