Find parking near Altria Theater

Altria Theater is a historic performing arts venue located at 6 N Laurel Street in the heart of Richmond’s VCU Monroe Park Campus, across from Monroe Park itself. Opened in the 1920s with ornate Moorish Revival architecture, it now hosts Broadway tours, major concerts, comedy shows, lectures, graduations, and other large-scale performances that draw big regional crowds. With so many events on the calendar and its position near a busy university campus and downtown, traffic on nearby streets can be especially heavy around showtimes, making it wise to plan your arrival and parking in advance.

Altria Theater does not operate its own public parking garage, but visitors will find off-street paid options and campus parking decks within walking distance, along with limited metered street parking that can fill quickly before popular performances. Street spaces are often time-limited and enforced, and the city encourages use of paid off-street facilities and mobile payment apps, so it is important to review posted signs, avoid blocking residential or permit-only areas, and allow extra time to find a legal space. Because events frequently coincide with busy commuter periods and university activities, securing parking near Altria Theater ahead of time helps reduce stress and keeps your visit focused on enjoying the show instead of circling for a spot. Guests should always confirm current parking rules, rates, and regulations with official city and venue resources before they travel.
