Find parking near Virginia Department of General Services

The Virginia Department of General Services is housed in the historic Washington (George Washington) Building at 1100 Bank Street, a state office hub steps from the Virginia State Capitol and other key government buildings. As an active government office in a dense part of downtown Richmond, it attracts employees, contractors, and visitors attending meetings or conducting official business throughout the workweek. This central location makes it convenient but also means streets around Bank Street and nearby Capitol Square can feel busy with steady vehicle and pedestrian traffic, especially during peak hours.

Because the agency is surrounded by multiple state offices and civic landmarks with limited public spaces, on-street parking can be scarce and often subject to time limits and enforcement, which makes it important to plan ahead rather than relying on finding a last-minute spot. Booking parking in advance near this area helps avoid circling crowded blocks, reduces stress before important appointments, and gives visitors more time to navigate building security and check-in procedures. Those looking for parking near Virginia Department of General Services should review local parking rules, posted signs, and any permit or time restrictions, and always confirm current information with official city or state sources before traveling.
