Find parking near Upper Shockoe Valley

Upper Shockoe Valley in Richmond, Virginia sits just northeast of downtown between Shockoe Hill and Church Hill, with Interstate 95 and the rail corridor running through its historic, warehouse-lined valley. The neighborhood blends industrial character with growing residential blocks, and it is close to major destinations like the Virginia State Capitol, the MCV campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, and Jefferson Park with its sweeping skyline views. This proximity to downtown offices, hospitals, and entertainment venues makes parking in Upper Shockoe Valley a key part of planning any visit, whether you are commuting for work or coming in to explore the city.

Traffic in the area can be busy at peak hours along East Broad Street, North 18th Street, and the streets closest to I-95, where on-street spaces fill quickly and competition is highest near popular restaurants, small shops, and apartment buildings. Visitors will find a mix of metered street parking, signed residential or time-limited zones, and off-street lots or garages closer to the downtown edge, so it is important to read local signs carefully and follow current city regulations. Booking a space in advance in a nearby lot or garage helps avoid circling for a spot, cuts down on congestion, and makes it easier to enjoy the neighborhood on foot. Because rules, rates, and zones can change, always confirm the latest information with official city or parking operators before your trip.
