Find parking near Jackson Ward

In Richmond, Virginia, Jackson Ward sits just north of Broad Street in the downtown area, framed by Belvidere Street to the west and Interstate 95 to the north and east, which makes it easy to reach by car but also a busy corridor at peak times. Known historically as the “Harlem of the South” and “Black Wall Street,” the neighborhood blends preserved Victorian rowhouses and ornate ironwork with a lively arts and dining scene centered on Broad and 2nd Streets, home to landmarks like the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site and the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia.

Traffic and demand for curbside spaces can be heavy around Broad Street, 2nd Street, and near major attractions, and many residential blocks use permit parking that limits how long non-residents can stay, so visitors should look for signed public lots or garages nearby and be sure to read all posted regulations carefully. Booking parking in Jackson Ward in advance helps drivers avoid circling dense blocks, respect local permit rules, and enjoy an easy walk to restaurants, galleries, and historic sites, whether they are in town for business or sightseeing. Because parking rules and availability can change, visitors should always confirm current regulations and official guidance before they arrive to save time and reduce stress.
