ParkMobile, the leading provider of mobile parking solutions in the US, announced today the launch of the meterUP mobile payments program which will be available throughout Philadelphia. The application will allow parkers to use their mobile devices to pay for parking at the metered, on-street parking spaces throughout the city.

The service will be available beginning in Center City, University City, and PPA-operated SEPTA rail stations, and both the ParkMobile and meterUP app will be accepted throughout the city. The city-wide deployment will be completed in the coming weeks and months. In Philadelphia, streets with posted meterUP signage and decals will indicate the app is available in that location.

The meterUP mobile payments system is user-friendly and widely-available across platforms. Customers first must register by downloading the mobile app for iPhone or Android, or online at www.meterup.org. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet, or for those without a smartphone, call the toll-free number listed on the meter stickers and signs to pay for parking. Users can opt in to receive reminders prior to their parking expiring, and if the meter max has not been reached, they may even extend time remotely. Additionally, when using the app in Philadelphia, they also have the option of stopping their session early to avoid unused time. Enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with meterUP or ParkMobile using a wireless handheld device and the parker’s license plate number.

“ParkMobile is thrilled to offer our services to the city of Philadelphia. With many existing users in the surrounding markets, we are excited to provide a one-stop solution parking app for the city.
