ParkMobile expands payment choice and convenience for Tacoma residents and visitors across nearly 1,900 on- and off-street spaces.
The City of Tacoma is expanding its digital parking program with the launch of ParkMobile, one of North America’s leading mobile parking payment providers. Starting today, customers parking in participating on- and off-street locations across 1,879 spaces throughout Tacoma will be able to use the ParkMobile app to pay for parking.
The addition of ParkMobile, provides customers with greater flexibility and convenience by offering multiple payment options. ParkMobile will help support a more seamless parking experience while contributing to improved curb management and traffic flow throughout Tacoma.
Part of the larger leading global mobility platform Arrive, ParkMobile offers drivers a simple way to find, pay for and manage parking from their smartphones, including its newest “Find My Car” feature. This innovative solution provides users parking location accuracy using GPS captured automatically at the start of their session, continuing the company’s commitment to bringing cities modernized parking operations through digital payments and connected mobility technologies.
“We’re excited to partner with the City of Tacoma to bring ParkMobile to residents and visitors,” said Benoit Reliquet, Head of Parking, North America & New Regions, Arrive. “Providing drivers with more payment options makes parking more convenient while helping cities leverage technology to better manage curb space and improve the overall mobility experience."
For Tacoma users, getting started is simple. Drivers can download the ParkMobile app, enter the posted location number, select the desired parking duration and begin their session in just a few taps. ParkMobile customers will also receive reminders before their parking session expires, making it easier to extend time remotely and reduce the likelihood of citations.
“Our goal has been to make parking easier to use,” said a representative from the City of Tacoma. “Expanding our payment options gives customers the flexibility to choose the app they’re already familiar with instead of changing how they park. It’s another step in evolving Tacoma’s parking system to a level that is easier to understand, use and support throughout downtown.”
As Tacoma continues transitioning to its expanded mobile payment program, customers may continue to see existing payment options available during the migration period. Updated signage will identify the supported mobile payment providers, ensuring parkers can easily choose their preferred payment method.
